I survived the movie, which is no mean feat. The subject matter is grim, harsh and devastatingly heart wrenching. That calls for a lot of emotional investment from the audience. Fortunately director Lee Daniels drops scenes of distractions every now and then to ease the tension.
No exploitation. Just pure story telling. Unforgettable.
