Actually more upbeat than I predicted. I thought it would be a wrist-cuttingly depressing, self-pitying movie. But the fact the self-inspired Precious(Gabourey Sidibe) keeps herself going everyday with fantasies and backboned hope, the whole movie seems a more positive tone.

Mo'Nique's Oscar-winning performance is well-deserved as Sidibe's mother. Sidibe subtley but powerfully conveys her character in a way that not a lot of actors can do. Most entertained by Paula Patton (Sidibe's teacher) and her variety of students.

B+.
