It is rare when a film causes such strong reactions. Precious is one of those films. Gabourey Sidibe gives such a strong performance and makes you want to hold her tight and rock her in your arms. Mo'Nique's performance is so visceral that it stays with you long after the film ends.
It's hard to write a review for this film without going into specifics about the plot because the story is so raw that it evokes so many emotions. It is not a story for everyone as a result as it is too confronting for some.
I thought it tackled the issues directly and Lee Daniels is a brave man indeed for creating a film that didn't allow us to turn away. Highly recommended but be warned, it will linger in your minds for a long time following.
