Review of Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire (2009) by Kimberley F — 12 Aug 2011
Gabourey Sidibe plays Clareece Precious Jones, a young woman from a poor part of town who is pregnant with her second incest child. In many ways this is the like The Colour Purple for the twenty-first century, except without the happy ending.
This is not a feel god drama, but the story of Precius is both compelling and horrific, but most importantly, well told. Featuring solid directing, and talented cast; I would recommend, but I'm just not sure who to.
