Review of Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire (2009) by Vincent L — 03 Dec 2012
A film I have kept in my shelve for a long time now. First of all it turned out to be a very well played movie - there are fantastic performances all over the line. The pace is nice, it always kept me interested. A very touching film at times - also heartwarming, but at the same time very, very sad.
I did not like the ending at all. It was not to open, to sudden or to easy to figure or anything, I just felt that it ended very poorly. It also featured some musicians like Mariah Carey and Lenny Kravitz, but I never recognized them until I read the casting list.
A raw film , but not raw enough, strong but not strong enough, OK captured, but not good enough. Still - a good film, well worth a watch - it just don't has that extra "snatch", topping or level raising it to an amazing film.
