Review of Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire (2009) by Guido S — 28 Dec 2013
Precious is a teenage girl whose father raped her and gave her a child and did it again a few years later. Her mother does nothing and treats her like dirt when she is trying to make something of herself.
She is overweight, and dreams of being a movie star and famous. She enrolls in an alternative high school after getting kicked out of public school. Her teacher played by Paula Patton take a liking to her and tries to give her individual attention to help her.
The story does about what you expect, the acting is all around very good, but the story doesn't really go anywhere. I was hoping for some great revelation or something but that never came. It is still good though and a very uplifting story.
