Review of Prayers for Bobby (2009) by Sugeiny T — 01 Feb 2009
This film is the true definition of 'gut wrenching'. Ryan Kelley did an excellent job playing a gay boy that realized he's gay only to be emotionally castrated by his conservative and extremely religious mother.
Sigourney Weaver delivers an award-worthy performance playing this so-called mother. The way her character changes through the entire film and goes from being close minded to a repentent open minded, understanding mother really touched me.
Her speech at the end of the film almost made me cry and the way she just finally accepts that her son was good no matter what, shows that this movie is a rare gem stone that should be recognized.
