Review of Prayers for Bobby (2009) by Marcus Y — 23 Dec 2009
I particularly enjoyed this film because I feel that it has opened alot of doors, and brought alot to the table in which other films have not. This is based on a true story, and this young man's life has given us insight of the despondence GLBTQ people feel, and deal with.
Were able to see through this young mans cognition, and were also able to understand more the pressure and frustration that the GLBTQ lifestyle entails of. Were also able to witness and understand how powerful and destructive ignorance, and prejudice could be.
And I'm also given hope witnessing this picture because Mary Griffith did not give up when her group of 17 appealed to her city counsel and were turned down, it made me happy to witness that this woman stayed strong and celebrated diversity thousands strong in San Francisco.
I'd also like to add the Mary Griffith did learn from her son's suicide, and worked really hard to make this world a better and safer place for GLBTQ people, and has gone to the extent of meeting with congressmen and has also been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
