Review of Practical Magic (1998) by Kelly B — 02 Mar 2010
I enjoy this film based on viewing it through a thick nostalgia filter. It's not brilliant or subtle or to be taken seriously. It is, however, fun, cute, and the chemistry between the two sisters of each generation comes off as genuine and charming in both script and the work of the actresses involved.
I am not usually a Nicole Kidman fan, but I loved her role here as the slutty, impetuous and selfish sister. I think the redder her hair gets, the better her acting is. Anyway, its kind of a 14 year old girl's idea of a perfect movie, but worth a viewing if you have a sister or daughter or girlfriend going through a rough time.
