I think this movie's fabulous. The cast, the direction, the script, and the special effects ground it into an only mildly enchanted reality. These aren't the witches of Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Charmed, The Witches of Eastwick, or Hocus Pocus.
Practical Magic is about witches that could very well live right around the corner, who worship the earth, who craft spells for good (and sometimes money). The result is a movie about sisterhood that just happens to have magic in it.
