Sally and Gillian are sisters with a bewitching gift. Unfortunately their gift also comes with a dark family curse; any man who falls in love with them meets a horrible end. To say they're unlucky in love would be an understatement. But when Sally meets the mortal man of her dreams, she has one final chance to lift the curse and set their love lives free.

Different. Typically in a witch film, you'd expect the witch to be an ungly old hag plotting bad things for everyone, but this is extremely different. The film is also based more-so for adults, something the witch sub-genre usually doesn't see. It was fun, dark, moody and eventful. It was visually welcoming, and the character devlopment was good, the only flaw I found was that while it was very adult-based, it had some really childish scenes. The film could also be classed as a romantic thriller, because in the end all "Sally" wants is true love. It keeps you watching with spells and fun scenes, and is a great tale of the love of sisters.

The plot was based on a book, and adapted for the big screen. Character's were well sculpted, and all were likeable. The house that the witches live in was huge and olden-styled, and the cures on the family was believably pulled-off.

The acting was good. "Sandra Bullock" was criticised alot for her acting in this, but I found her to be believable, realistic and her skills are exceptional. "Nicole Kidman" was like i've never seen her before. Raunchy, sexy and her character had depth.

Overall "Practical Magic" is a a great story of family, is fun and a different take on the witch-genre. My rating is 3/5.
