Review of Powder Blue (2009) by Richard S — 18 Nov 2009
The trouble with watching too many movies, it seems is that the act of watching a new film becomes merely an act of comparison. Most of the other reviews on this website, merely compare this film to other films by this director or in this genre.
When you look at anything in comparison to something else you are not seeing the whole picture. This is the problem with reviews from expert film critics. They are so busy looking at the details, and they have so many expectations and predictions about what should be going on, that they miss the opportunity to experience the story as it is, non-judgmentally, I wont go into details, such as how good or bad the cinematography was etc.
I haven't seen many films like this, when I watched it I was totally absorbed and moved. The acting is so good, from the whole cast that the idea that they were acting and the thought of judging their acting skills didn't enter my head.
This is of course the mark of an excellent performance. Because of this I was free to experience the story and the emotions. So I highly recommend this film, but when you are watching this film, don't, as they say, "judge for yourself", just be a human being watching.
It WILL evoke some very deep emotions if you can watch it in this way.
