Review of Powder Blue (2009) by Dana A — 02 May 2010
Well this was depressing to say the least and should have it name changed to Depressing Blue. Despite this, this was a wonderfully directed and written film. I'm even more shocked to say Jessica Biel was actually good and didn't manage to screw it up.
The first half is very dark, intense and depressing and you are really able to feel each heartbreaking emotion as each character longs for something. At times the tone becomes too depressing but by the second half things began to change, however to doesn't feel organic, more manipulated.
You don't want the audience to sit through an entirely depressing film but there should have been a better way to execute the mood change. Pretty decent film, depressing, not all to believable but its something to rent.
