Review of Powder (2010) by Carlos B — 21 Nov 2009
The main character in this movie is both layered and magnificent. The movie uses both his strong and flawed attributes to bring to light that side of humanity that is not so nice in all of us. Powder, young, genius, decades above his peers in maturity, is also completely alone, not only because his exterior looks dont match the beauty stsndards of the world, but also his pure heart, respect for nature, and even what seems at times to be complete innocence.
At times I was tempted to think of him as a God like character, jesus attributes, a perfect human looking out at imperfection, but then the movie shines his humanity in moments of pure vulnerability. See it however you like, I know it makes me believe that even we as humans have the ability to choose to love and see the beauty all around us, see that it really is there no matter what our circumstances may dictate.
