Maybe "farce" is just another way of saying "uninspired." This movie feels old, and should have stayed on the stage from which it was borrowed. Never have I heard so little laughter in a crowded theater for a movie hyped as funny.
Everything was overdone: the writing, the acting, the direction. It felt like a high school play where wit and subtlety have been displaced by broad readings and embarrassing performance. I left after 45 minutes and got my money back.
