Review of Postcards from the Edge (1990) by Rostek P — 05 Feb 2012
They're blanks, asshole! Streep is dynamite here. She goes beyond the comedy and beyond the cheap sentiment and creates a character who really tries to find her way and despite of all the problems, all the mistakes and all the failures she's somebody I deeply cared about.
Shirley MacLaine is a charmer and it's really fun to see these two ladies playing mother and daughter, both actresses, and it's ironic to see their different approaches to acting and stardom both in their work on the characters and in the characters themselves.
