Review of Postal (2007) by Devon W — 15 Sep 2008
Guy has a hard luck streak. Terrorists attempt to steal Krotchy dolls, Dave Foley's penis flaps around, a lot of really funny and clever events occur that get lost in a movie that progresses from witty and fun to boring and awful.
Felt kinda like one of those shitty spoof movies that have been popping up like the plague, only not so shitty. Some real gems in the movie that are worth catching if you can stand how bad the movie gets, although it attempts to constantly nod to Postal 2 (which is why it probably started to sink quickly... too much attention to referencing the game instead of writing something that would've been funnier on film).
Much like ITNOTKing, it starts off pretty promising but tapers off and gets sigh-worthy the further it gets. I'm atleast glad to see that Boll is coming along at creating a captivating movie, atleast to start with, but hey practice makes perfect.
Zach Ward is a superb actor and actually kind looks like The Dude. Vern 'mini-me' Troyer is funny, either actually funny or just funny 'cause he's a cussing midget. Dave Foley did fine, but Uncle Dave is kind of a shitty character. And well, there's a ton of good and shitty actors in there, each doing their thing. If you're thinking of watching "_______ Movie" save yourself the brain trauma and watch this instead, it's for sure 100x better.
Oh ya, Boll plays a german movie maker that gets assaulted by the Postal creator for 'ruining his game'. Glad to see the guy make fun of himself a bit, that and the fact that he'll be a (quite killable) character in the Postal 3 game is good for a chuckle.
