The only good thing about this movie really was Ryden's loopy and weird family. Michael Keaton, Jane Lynch, Carol Burnett... they all had terrific chemistry and their scenes were entertaining and endearingly quirky.
As for the film itself, the message sucked. To spend the entire time striving to get your dream job only to give it and everything else up in the end to follow a guy across the country and do... what? Ridiculous.
