Review of Possession (1987) by Katy G — 07 Jun 2007
Very disappointing. After reading "Possession," I couldn't wait to see the film. The book is amazing but the director has changed so much and set up the modern love story as a conflict between English ice queen and easygoing American.
The Roland and Maud in this film are far less engaging than the characters in the book. The characterisation is over the top throughout the film. It is weak when compared to the novel, and it fails to stand alone as entertaining.
Jeremy Northam does add some class, though he isn't given much to do.
