Review of Poseidon (2006) by Ricardo R — 30 May 2009
While the overall storyline (getting out of the sinking liner) is fairly bland and predictable, I loved this movie's special effects - the scenes that took place as the wave hit the ship, capsizing it, were genuinely quite harrowing.
I know there are many who'll compare this to Titanic, but honestly, the one thing (other than special effects) that makes me think this is superior to Titanic is the fact that it doesn't spend all it's time on any overly dramatic romantic storyline.
There's one obvious storyline of such a nature, and the hints of potential for another, but neither are given much strength, and I'm particularly grateful for that.
