Review of Poseidon (2006) by El U — 08 Mar 2013
Okay, so the film deals with one big wave that knocks the ship over and lots of water escape scenes to follow. I simply hate near drowning scenes personally, so I spent half this movie holding my breath. Those scenes are always just to real for me. So they did that right.
It has a great cast, but so much mellow drama is added to the story, it leaves some of the characters walking cliches. I loved Lucas, Rossum and Barrett here. Dillon plays such a douchebag, you just know he'll be one of the first to bite it.
It's not an awful movie, but ruined by awful scenes. Near the end someone is hit in the head with a big chunk of the ship, more than enough to kill them, and they just walk away like it was nothing. Stuff like that just keeps bringing this movie down.
