Review of Portrait of Jennie (1948) by Ellen L — 13 Oct 2014
I don't remember how old I was the first time I saw Portrait of Jennie on Million Dollar Movie, but I watched it and watched it. It grabbed me, it fascinated me. I was like those girls at the end (including a very young Anne Francis) who wondered if she was real and yes, I believed.
I still watch it every time I see it on and it never gets old. Jennifer Jones makes Jennie come to life at every age so real, and Joseph Cotton is just superb as is the rest of the supporting cast, Ethel Barrymore, Cecil Kelloway and David Wayne.
