I saw this while on a mushroom trip alone. I think it's the only way to see this movie. You really understand that none of the actors are actually taking the movie seriously. They are letting you in on a big inside joke and that this movie, all the reality surrounding it, and YOUR reality are entwined in the punchline.

Their laughter is your laughter, and the veil between film and reality is pulled aside in a common tongue-in-cheek understanding.
