Review of Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping (2016) by Kevin K — 06 Jul 2016
Popstar was a lot better than I expected, and got me to laugh out loud consistently throughout the entire film, which is a rare for me. Another rare feat is that the show, unlike many Will Ferrel movies, doesn't lean on complete absurdity to get laughs. Many of the things that happen in this film actually make sense in context.
I was really wary of the celebrity cameos, but they were actually quite tasteful and they fit well into the plot. Most of the celebs played themselves, but my favorite cameo was actually Justin Timberlake as Conner's chef, who cuts carrots into 12 different shapes just to mildly please Conner. All in all I think it was a great movie from the Lonely Island crew, and well worth the watch for anyone looking for a meaty comedy that delivers consistent laughs.
