Immediately before watching "Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping" I was expecting the worst. Andy Samberg hasn't exactly panned out as an actor in his post SNL career, and this comes from the same directors who made "MacGruber" and "The Watch" which were both horrendous in their own right.
So needless to say my expectations couldn't have been much lower... But oddly enough I found myself pleasantly surprised both by how competent the story was, and how entertained I felt the entire time.
Don't expect any High-Brow humor as this is definitely more for the easily distracted crowd and for the stereotypical "bro" than it is for anyone who finds witty banter, good delivery, and actual humor important.
But even if you do fall into the latter category you should still find some entertainment in the redemption story that accompanies the attempted jokes and long musical performances this mockumentary style film gives us.
