Review of Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping (2016) by Alex L — 12 Jun 2016
With yesterday being such a crummy day, Tyson and I went to go see this. We're huge fans of The Lonely Island, as we bought their debut album back in 2009 (when people still bought compact discs) and grew up watching the classic SNL Digital Shorts (I'm On A Boat, Dick in a Box, J*** in my Pants, etc etc.) Needless to say, we were stoked to see them on the big screen together for the first time.
This did not disappoint. Not all of the jokes hit, but I haven't laughed this hard in possibly years. The film is presented in a mockumentary style (think This is Spinal Tap for the Justin Bieber/Kanye West generation) but the humor is along the lines of This is the End or Borat with the numerous celebrity cameos and social commentaries. Definitely worth seeking for anyone who follows the music industry.
