Review of Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping (2016) by Sayer F — 06 Jun 2016

I spent at about 2 days telling my girlfriend how stupid this movie was going to be. I had zero expectations. I'm so glad I was wrong. Popstar is a one joke movie that stays funny through the entire film. The writers of Popstar (Samberg included) found a way to keep this simple story progressing enough to keep the laughs coming. The songs featured in Popstar are funny. It's only 1 1/2 hours long, which is perfect for a movie like this. I don't know current pop culture, so I don't know which characters were real and which were made up, but I do know there were loads of stars, big names. All the actors who pitched in did their parts to make this mockumentary work.

While it is a forgettable flick, Popstar is a good choice for a comedy if you want to get out of the house and get some popcorn in your belly. Otherwise I'd say it'd make a good rental.
