Review of Pool Sharks (1915) by Kevin N — 26 Aug 2010
W.C. Fields' first film contains some very funny moments and immediately begins to shape the character he would quickly become, but its clunky structure feels like it's missing several sequences.
The story jumps back and forth between some kind of bourgeoisie party and a pool hall, and Fields frequents both; the result is a chaotic string of gleefully violent gags and fun little billiard trick shots that make this short film worth checking out but certainly not essential.
