Review of Pontypool (2009) by Adam E — 08 Mar 2010
A great spin on a now very famliar genre (the zombie flick). Not wanting to spoil the film to much but it has a fantastic approach on the virus and is built up amazingly. Because its a small cast and extremely well acted by all involved (aside from the doctor who comes of a bit cartoonish in places) you really feel for these characters and become invested in there safety.
Like some of the great movies out there (reservoir dogs for 1) its entirely set in one location with the only contact with the outside been on radio. Imagine the basement scene in night of the living dead but as a whole movie and you get the idea.
Not much gore but its not that kind of horror, its more about the unknown and the lack of knowledge building a disturbing atmosphere and it works. A must see for people who like a sense of unknowing in there movies.
A real treat, go and watch right away.
