Review of Pontypool (2009) by Al M — 31 Dec 2011
Pontypool tries and mostly succeeds at being a bottle film that takes place almost entirely in the claustrophobic confines of a radio station during a horrific outbreak. Pontypool leaves almost everything to the imagination and features little real gore or horror scenes.
However, it manages to effectively and methodically build tension while creating horror more through ideas than images. The film begins to feel a little thin at times without payoff, but overall it manages to deliver creepy suspense in a truly original and often humorous fashion that comments upon the media saturation of our society.
