Review of Pontypool (2009) by Lucinda H — 29 Oct 2011
What an inventive little film! Built on a terrific premise, the film has a stripped down style which sees most of the action taking place in a single room. Indeed, it could almost be a play. With deft use of a microphone rather than graphic images of the outside world, the viewer is given little information and left as bewildered and unsettled as the characters.
Like all good zombie-ish movies, it comes with metaphor written through it. In the seventies it was consumerism, in the teens it's the media and the use of language. OK, it does stop making sense.
A bit. But I think that's intentional.
