Review of Pontypool (2009) by Jacob M — 22 Jul 2014
Pontypool is the scariest zombie movie I have ever seen, because it brings something to the table that most of the modern zombie flicks don't bring, a fresh and interesting take on the undead creatures.
For nearly half of the movie, you never see a zombie. This is the scariest part of the film because you never see them, but you hear them and hear about what is currently going on outside of the protagonists little haven in his radio broadcasting headquarters. It's this stuff that really unnerves you because you are hearing from people who are directly in the middle of it all and it is terrifying.
The zombies do show up, but the way they are spread and sense you is not from your average zombie film, but I'll leave that for you to find out yourself. Pontypool is a undeniably terrifying and unnerving take on the zombie genre that never falls short of greatness. Every move, every interaction, every character, they are all looking towards a problem that they will have no chance of solving and if it was me, I wouldn't be able to take it.
