Review of Pompeii (2014) by Al S — 25 May 2014
Pompeii succeeds as a guilty pleasure, its enjoyable enough to fill its 104 minute running time but tends to use old-school cliches we have all seen before, stylistic battles that look like something out of Gladiator and the Spartacus tv series, a revenge story and a sudden romance between the two leads.
All things we have seen before but this time in a disaster movie, and a pretty fun one at that, it makes due with what it has does not try to be anything else but entertaining. It's an epic, action-packed adventure that's filled with pulse-pounding battles and explosive special effects that keeps your adrenaline going.
A big and thrilling movie with special effects that keep your eyes open and characters you love to watch. Director, Paul W.S Anderson is a true stylist of genre films and makes the movies he wants to make.
