Review of Pompeii (2014) by Robert B — 30 Dec 2014
I really don't know what this movie lacks. Maybe a lack of originality. It felt like Titanic at times - then Gladiator - then The Day After Tomorrow. Maybe it was it's predictability. You knew who was going to fight whom and fall in love with who and who was going to stab who in the back.
The historical event behind this film is one of the most amazing ever truly recorded, but the story in this film failed to match. The volcanic eruption should have been the only predictable event in this movie, like the sinking ship in Titanic.
Gone are the days where movie makers could make heavy CGI backgrounds with weak storylines and please the audience.
