Review of Polytechnique (2009) by Terry M — 19 Oct 2018
Awwww Denis Villeneuve, what a genius you are.
I came across his 2009 film POLYTECHNIQUE, on Hulu, which is about the mass shootings of woman who were attending Montreal's POLYTECHNIQUE in 1989.
At a quick 1 hour and 17 minutes he creates an unforgettable look at the horror of misogyny, at its worst.
As usual, with all of this directors fine yet unsettling work. The film will haunt me for days and make me think, think, think.
I probably should have waited a few days or weeks to watch this film just after watching THE ARRIVAL yesterday.
But I couldn't wait.
Next in my list of this fine directors films that I have not seen is INCENDIES.
Do yourself a favor watch POLYTECHNIQUE with someone, not alone.
You will need someone to discuss what you have just witnessed.
BTW: the film is in black and white.
