Like all high school shooting films, this one is automatically held up to Van Sant's "Elephant" and while it was interesting in its own right, it wasn't anything outstanding or bring anything particularly new or fresh to the subject matter like "Elephant" did for me.
However, the cinematography is nicely done and visually it has a very dynamic look to it. I'm not entirely sure if the backstories for the main characters really added anything to the movie in the end though, but it does have a nice intensity and good pacing for the most part.
