Review of Polyester (1981) by Patrick U — 16 Jul 2007
The first foray into somewhat mainstream cinema for John Waters, but still nowhere near 'mainstream'.
It was the first of the 'older' John Waters films I ever saw, and it still has a soft spot in my heart. Some of the classic scenes: Jean Hill's biting the back tire of Bobo's car, the Catholic hayride, Edith Massey trying on designer gowns . . . I could go on and on. Tab Hunter is a hoot, and Divine should have been nominated for an Oscar.
