Review of Poltergeist II: The Other Side (1986) by Lafe F — 13 Jul 2007
Poltergeist II was only half as effective as its predessor. There were some haunted toy scenes and a great new scary-as-hell evil Quaker-ish Priest named "Kane" leering at the family, a gross Tequila bottle mutant worm attack, and the little Robbie's braces attacking him from his mouth.
This movie promised a visit to the other side where the ghosts live; it seemed cheap and quick. I liked the Indian magic they used to defend themselves from the evil ghost attacks. I liked the subplot with Carol Ann's Grandmother.
Tangina made a brief appearance too. It somewhat saddened things that the teenaged daughter from the first film was absent here. Any scene with Kane the preacher was freaky. I was disappointed with this sequel.
