Review of Poltergeist II: The Other Side (1986) by Clark P — 30 Sep 2007
All of the original Freeling family (minus eldest daughter Dana) - actress Dominique Dunne was tragically murdered upon the first movie's release, return to battle those troublesome ghouls in this fine sequel to the Spielberg helmed original.
This time around the family are living in Phoenix, Arizona with Diane's Gramma Jess. But when Gramma Jess passes away, the ghouls return in another attempt to snatch little Carol Anne over to 'the other side'.
The movie expands upon the original movie, rather than rehash it, and it boasts some terrific visuals (including the appropriately named Vomit Creature), a memorable fire and brimstone performance by the late Julian Beck as the evil preacher Reverend Kane and again a top notch score by Jerry Goldsmith.
