Review of Poltergeist (2015) by Ian G — 28 Jun 2015
One of those remakes coming out of Sam Raimi;s Ghiost House Pictures which is getting its name by remaking or rejigging classic 80's horror titles including Raimis own Evil Dead series, Poltergeist pretty much hits all the same points as the 82 original only for the hi-def era with flat screen televisions, ipad's and smart phones.
There are some decent little jumps that harken back to the original film which proves how well they worked in the first place, and Rockwell is surprisingly very commited to his performance as the put upon Dad, probably more than the project deserved but helped bring you in that much more to the proceedings.
Better than it ought to be for sure with a decent cast but as always as it is with these remakes for the new generation why go back to the well when it is done so well originally and you don't have any new takes.
