Review of Poltergeist (2015) by Alex M — 25 Jul 2015
Big Al's Movie Review:
Poltergeist.
A tormented family must discover a way to locate their youngest child within their home after she is seized by aggressive spirits.
The 1982 original receives a remake but instead of a well skilled face-lift all the audience gets is a cardboard cutout mask. Instead of improving on the initial version or coming up with something fairly unique, this movie just lightly touches the original plot points and hopes for the best. The direction is hurried and the writing is much too shallow to let the viewers have any chance of caring for the characters. The good news? The acting is the highlight of the film, but what a waste of a good cast.
Grade: D+.
Big Al says Poltergeist is a renter.
