Review of Poltergeist (2015) by Michael C — 12 Sep 2015
Remakes will always get a hard time, either they follow too closely to the original and are too afraid to try something new or they try new things and stray too far from the original. This falls somewhere in the middle.
If you have seen the original there is no point to watch this clumsy remake. The clichés of this genre are apparent, you know when the jump scares are coming, you know the plot of the film before it happens.
There is no real tension in the film as you already know the outcome, if they strayed a little from the original and tried something bold and daring then maybe this would of been a lot better. Sam Rockwell seems to be doing this for a pay cheque.
The family dynamic is great though. All you need to know with this is its Poltergeist for the iphone generation. Few scares and too much CGI. But I'm sure they will remake The Other Side aswel.
