Features some great performances yet the Connelly romance angle is never developed satisfactorily and is used clumsly to resolve the film..
Pollock.
The film just gives you general information that you could probably find in any encyclopedia: Pollock was a drunkard who got married, painted and became famous, womanized and died?not an engaging examination of the artist?s drives and inspirations.
Police Story.
Bare bones plot and character development. Many threads, such as the relationship between Chan and the psychologist, are left dangling. Yet, Chan provides enough bone crunching sequences to satisfy.
K-19 Widowmaker.
A decent story ruined by series of stupid blunders. The first is the miscasting Harrison Ford. The man lacks any sort of ?military? presence. When he gives orders he doesn?t snap them he mumbles them in some sort of garbbled accent.
Kill Bill.
An action film is required to have certain characteristics. It must have a catchy soundtrack, snappy dialogue, characters that have more color than depth and lots of flashy violence. Tarintiono uses all these characteristics to the max and then some. Unfortunely, the proceedings are marred by some events in the first half of the film. I believe somewhere in between the shots of the bloody, pregnant ?Bride?, the unscrouplous nurse and his vaseline and the anime sequence involving the pedophile mob boss, that I got a bad taste in my mouth. Call me a puritan but I found these scenes to be extremely vile. Vile enough to ruin the film...
