Review of Police Story (1985) by Raynormanbateman . — 16 Sep 2008
A very solid effort in directing from Jackie Chan. You can tell that he was interested more in the stunts rather than the way the movie was filmed and edited. Not saying that it effects the whole movie a whole lot but after reading about critics saying that this movie defines what Jackie is all about I would have to disagree.
I think at the end it is about what you grow up watching and to me Jackie Chan's finest moment is in The Drunken Master and Snakes in the Eagles Shadow because it mixed martial arts and story much better.
I can see why some would though call this his prime, Jackie is an impressive stunt man, he always does his own stunts and they are really dangerous stunts that could get you killed. For someone getting paid a lot he doesn't need to do it but he does because he loves it. I prefer him as martial arts actor because of his skill and speed, well when he was younger anyways. If you prefer stunts and good story than this is a good movie but if you prefer to see Jackie in comedy and martial arts than Drunken Master it is.
