What Stripes did for The US Army, Police Academy tried...and failed...with police training...there are a few laughs, but it has not aged well in nearly 30 years. There's a lot of surprisingly racist & homophobic jokes throughout and not nearly enough comedy to make up for them.
Sadly, this is only the 1st in the series of 7 and it only gets worse. It was however a huge hit, grossing over $146 million on a $4.5 million budget.
