Review of Polar (2019) by Wulfentine — 30 Jan 2019
Couldn't finish it. Go ahead and call me a prude all you want but all I see is a potentially good plot ruined by absolutely boring, dragged on scenes that I'm 99% sure were put in just for shock value.
Once the shock wears off, there's nothing left. I've got no problem with violence in film or television if there's a purpose, but critics are right on this one. There is an audience, in people who don't like to think, I guess.
I haven't read the graphic novel but if it's anything alike, it genuinely might've worked better there, since you wouldn't be forced to wait twenty minutes mindlessly watching the blood splatter before getting to turn to the next page.
