Review of Poison Ivy: The New Seduction (1997) by Ganesh_ 1 — 23 Apr 2009

While babysitting tonight, I didn't have much flicks to choose from. This was the choice I picked, while the kids were tucked into bed.

Lucky me.

I'll admit that I like this more then the god awful "Lily", while at least this movie seems to embrace it's dreck, instead on condescending to it. It's basically a remake posing as a sequel, with Ivy's long lost sister, Violet, causing up a storm for a family who fucked her and her sister over.

Now those who bothered to pay attention to Poison Ivy 1 will know that Ivy's actual name wasn't Ivy, her real name was never actually declared, so points lost for the incompetent writer who most likely didn't even bother to watch part 1. BAD continuity.

But then why should flaws like that matter to a film like this anyways? It's main appeal is to see Jaime Pressley, nude and sizzling, while leading around clued out dorks by their fly's and causing trouble that could be avoided if our "heroine" had opened up her dumb eyes in the first place.

Part 1 wasn't a great film by any means, but you could at least see a director who cared about the subject matter and at least tried to bring some artistry to the visuals.

This film is polar opposite in tone, style and directing. It's by the number straight to video garbage that has some of the dumbest writing I've seen this week. We have Jaime nude, and some funny dialogue, but you'd probably benefit more from watching some lesbian porn.

I can't believe they made ANOTHER sequel after this.
