Review of Point Break (2015) by Junelkean — 07 Jul 2017
The 1991 action-sport movie Point Break gets a remake... What is the point? Well, the only reason why this movie tends to exist is only to make it feel worthless by comparing it to the original. It follows the story of Johnny Utah (Bracey), a skilled FBI ex-athlete who infiltrates a group of thrill-seeking criminals who has done terrible things for establishing Nirvana by a check-list of the "Ozaki Eight".
Kathryn Bigelow, the director of the original movie is replaced by Ericson Core, but his version is dull and boring. The characters lack in interest and enthusiasm making them unlikeable in providing a 114-minute runtime of the movie. Meanwhile, the completely humorless and unengaging performances of Bracey and his crew make it a dishonor to Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze.
It has nothing to show except for the believable stunts, but in never keeps the story and substance overflowing to the entirety of the movie. It also does not stick to the memory and never gives a solid impact to the thrills, unlike what the original movie did.
VERDICT: The remake of "Point Break" ends up all pointless.
