Review of Point Break (2015) by Ben F — 10 Jan 2010
They don't make action films like this one anymore.
Point Break is a riveting ride from start to finish; handled with class and oomph by Katherine Bigalow - why Hollywood don't let more women direct action films is beyond me; I can honestly say I can only recall a handful of action films directed by women and nearly all of them have been great! Pacing is steady and the action is solid.
Great performances by Reeves and Swayze in a pinacle role; Gary Busey provides the comic relief in a non corny way; and despite the plot holes and the few cliches, Point Break is a fun, popcorn action film; the type of film Hollywood just doesn't invest in anymore; this film is so much better than half of the CG effects ladden action films that are released nowadays.
