Review of Point Break (2015) by Leland B — 14 Mar 2010
A surreal combination of bank robbing surfer dudes led by a perfectly cast Swayze and Keanu Reeves as an undercover, but wooden, FBI agent somehow work well enough to make this overtly testosterone packed, sexualised, action thriller that seems influenced, in part, by The Lost Boys an enjoyable experience.
Bigelow does a good job of directing the weird screenplay, especially the extreme sports scenes which are brilliantly captured and the fantastic Ronald Reagan chase scene. The idea of the Ex-President masks worn by the robbers is great fun, especially the Richard Nixon impressions.
Gary Busey is eccentric as a washed up FBI agent and partner to Reeves and John C McGinley also appears as an idiot FBI boss. Lori Petty is good as Reeves' surfer girlfriend.
